Canadian, 1950
Nicholas Pearce was born on the Canadian Prairies. He attended the Alberta College of Art in Calgary, and then gravitated to the media, working for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) in Calgary as a news illustrator. Pearce then became Illustrations Editor for the Calgary Herald, creating courtroom drawings, story illustrations, and graphic representations. He moved to Canada’s West Coast in 1983 after realizing he had reached the limits placed on artistic expression by the commercial demands of illustration and the newspaper printing process.
Pearce has been painting the female face and form for the past 25 years – faces, nudes, and the dynamically sensual imagery of women dancing flamenco.
His paintings are in private and corporate collections in Canada, the United States, and Europe.
