Rod Charlesworth was born in Terrace, British Columbia, Canada. At the beginning of his career he was highly influenced by the surrealists, and was led to his current artistic interests after discovering the impressionist works, which include an ardent enthusiasm in experimenting with colour, and the physical qualities of paint. Tom Thomson and the Group of Seven have also had a profound influence on his work.
He is committed to painting images that have a strong Canadian cultural influence, whether this is expressed through his bold landscapes, abstracts, or his images of children at play. He is an avid participant in numerous charities, donating works for a variety of causes. Charlesworth’s work is displayed in corporate and private collections worldwide. |
