Canadian, b. 1978 Jerry Markham, born in Innisfail, Alberta, Canada, is a professional artist and plein air painter residing in British Columbia, Canada. Markham enjoys painting a wide range of subject matter including landscapes, wildlife, still life, figures and anything that captures his interest. He paints mainly in oils but also enjoys watercolors. His interests and experiences, study of master painters, and travels have played a significant role in the subjects he chooses to paint. Plein air painting and painting from life are very important to Markham in order to capture and represent the true essence of a subject, such as the vibrant colors, proper perspective and reflected light that don’t show through in photographs. Markham, whose paintings are collected across North America, is currently a member of the Oil Painters of America, International Plein Air Painters, and Federation of Canadian Artists. |
